Bubbling Buddha?

David Riklan is the man behind the #1 personal development site on the Internet, Self Growth.com.

Some time ago, he called me a "Bubbling Buddha."

I'm not sure whether that was a hint I should be losing a few pounds.

But today, he's sending out a special message to all of his 250,000 loyal subscribers - recommending they visit my blog.

That's why I'm about to repost a series of blog articles I've written over the past year - which have really made an impact on people.

The kind of posts that have resulted in a mass of mail hitting my inbox.

Within the coming posts, I'm sure you'll find something that applies directly to you. In your life. Right now.

That's usually how it works.

And any new subscribers can also get a taste of what they can expect from this blog.

So - enjoy this small regurgitation, and have a great Thursday!

The Karl Blog.com Song is Here!

It's here. Finally.

The official Karl Blog.com song: "This Time."

Check out my earlier post for snapshots of the song in progress, behind-the-scenes studio chatter, and, of course, the lyrics!

Listen to the words carefully. I wrote them alongside Artist X - and they really mean something.

You might also wish to check out my previously published Favourite Quotes to see how they've been woven into the song.

You're welcome to distribute this song as much as you like. It's released into the public domain without limitation, so long as credit is given to www.karlblog.com.

Enjoy - and revel living in the moment :)

The Karl Blog.com Song!

It's about time this blog had it's own theme tune.

That's why myself, Artist X and his gang have been working furiously over the past couple of months to create "This Time" ... the official song of Karl Blog.com!

Below, you can find details of the entire experience -- including studio shots, lyrics, and more.

I helped write the lyrics and style the song... and you can hear "Karl Blog!" sung repeatedly at the end of the track.

It's beautiful! :)

And this inspirational little song is coming your way tomorrow.

Want to listen to the studio chatter, and hear a sneak preview of different parts of the song?

Click HERE to listen to the behind-the-scenes chatter!

Karl Blog.com Song Lyrics

I’m free just like the sky above
like the space between ourselves and us
it’s all around you

I let go of the voice inside
no need to cling to thoughts and time
there’s nothing to hold onto

and it feels so nice
to be here in this space and time
and you and I
lose ourselves outside our minds
and love
a feeling that is deep inside
and I feel alright
happy just to be alive
this time

each moments rises right on time
they never miss a beat and I
go with the flow around me

you can’t touch me where I am
I’m further from the place I’ve been
just wait and soon we’ll all see

and it feels so nice
to be here in this space and time
and you and I
lose ourselves outside our minds
and love
a feeling that is deep inside
and I feel alright
happy just to be alive
this time

It’s always morning somewhere in the world
wherever you may roam
There’s nothing good or bad here at all
but thinking makes it so
If you always do what you’ve always done
you’ll get more of what you’ve had
A ship is safe in harbor but that’s not what it’s for
live each day like it’s the last

Question: What Was That?

This evening, a quick personal question to my dearest blog readers.

I'm trying to remember the name of a certain expressive dance style, popular in the world of self-growth.

It's called something like the Five Dances, or the Four Movements.

But I just can't remember the name.

Can you?

What is it?

Just post a comment at www.karlblog.com to let me know, or reply if you're reading by e-mail.

Thank you! :)

Over 365 Blog Posts Later...

This time last year, I made a koan.

I promised to post daily here at Karl Blog.com for a whole year.

And I've done it!

Every day, I've posted at least one message -- sometimes many. I've posted a whole bundle of Random Acts of Kindness, and an awesome series of Friday Factoids.

Occassionally, I've missed a day or two.

But, apparently, I'm only human.

It's been an amazing experience. I've found that being forced into writing each day has really kick-started my spirituality at the points I needed it most. I've discovered everything -- from the true size of our universe to the secret history of the keyboard. And I've done more RAKs than ever before -- especially on a Monday.

Yes -- daily blog writing is a koan I'd recommend to anyone.

(Incidentally, due to increased business matters, I've yet to decide what I'm going to do in future. I expect that during 2008 my blog posts will become slightly less frequent -- however hopefully much deeper than ever before!)

So... my question today is...

What's YOUR koan for 2008? (Learn more here.)

What can YOU do that will stretch your boundaries? What challenge will change your life?

What kind of new person will you be in exactly 366 days time? (Yup, 2008 is a leap year!)

As Mahatma Gandhi says... "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Do it!

Your seconds on this earth are limited -- and are continuously being frittered away reading crazy posts like this.

Go, start living -- and enjoy every second!

Quick Reminder: The Most Impact

Just joined the blog? Here's a quick reminder of some of the posts that have had the most impact on readers...

* * *

What messages on this blog have had the most impact on you?

Every day for over a year now, I've posted messages designed to inspire, uplift and develop. Ironically, more often than not they've had a profound impact on me.

Yesterday's post "Who Are You?" made a lot of people really think -- and inspired around forty messages in my inbox, as well as chat at Karl Forum.com.

And so, today, I'm posting a list of the blog posts that have raised a good chunk of feedback -- typically thirty messages or more.

Maybe -- just maybe -- these will have an impact on you, too.

Enjoy - and Happy Thursday! :)

The Friendliest Forum in Town!

Today, I have a BIG announcement.

Over the past couple of months, I've received a lot of feedback from individuals wanting to connect with a bigger community of inspired friends.

They want to chat with the other individuals that read THIS blog.

I'm talking about the sort of people that are upbeat and positive. People that love sharing inspirational stories. Giving individuals that practice Random Acts of Kindness.

And of course, crazy people that love Friday Factoids!

Well, today, the wish is granted.

I've just launched a brand new FORUM... where friendly individuals from across the globe can get together to share their stories and help each other out.

It's EXPERIMENTAL, yes -- so I can't say for sure it'll work.

But I'd like to think that we can get a really friendly international community going here, one based on nothing but the simplicity of friendship.

And so, today, if you're interested... I'd like to ask that you please stop by the forum and register!

It'll probably be a little unusual to start off with, but we'll soon overcome that. I've posted the first message (actually the third, I was beat already!)... and I'm awaiting your response.

Remember, the forum may be called KarlForum.com -- but it's definitely NOT about me. Tsk, how egotistical! It's just about spreading the enjoyment of life.

So please visit the site at www.karlforum.com

Or to register directly, click here.

Thank you so much :)

(Oh, and I'll be looking out for moderators too. If you're interested, drop me a line and put "BPSF" in the subject line to bypass my spam filter.)

Wondering what the screensaver looks like before downloading?

Here's a screenshot of one sample page. It's pretty small here, so just click to enlarge. The quote is from Shakespeare. "This above all: To thine own self be true."

Codd Bottle Winner!

We have a winner of the Codd bottle competition!

It's Nancy Poh, who came up with:

"I love reading Karl's Blog because nature cannot put that smile on my face as naturally as he does it!"

Thanks to everyone for their fantastic entries -- most notably Debby, Pat from NZ, Ann Johnson, "Ziko", and Henry Cortes!

Congratulations! :)

My Happy Easter Competition!

Well, you saw the video Friday Factoid yesterday, where I explained the meaning behind the word codswallop...

Now WIN the Codd bottle itself!

It's a cheesy competition, partly in celebration of the new course from Nick Daws - How to Win Contests - and it's EASY to win.

Just complete the following tie-breaker:

"I love reading Karl's Blog because..."

Humorous entries and slick ditties please. Send them to me at karl@karlmoore.com and make sure you put the phrase "Karl Moore Competition" in the subject line so that it gets past the spam filter.

I'll choose a winner last thing on Monday April 9th!

GOOD LUCK! :)

Simply, Thanks

(Listen to Karl's AUDIO version of this post by clicking here!)

Today, I'd like to say thanks.

To you.

Why?

I was interview earlier in January about my writing work at "How to Tell a Great Story."

During the interview, Aneeta asked what I did to "find my voice." I answered that being forced to churn out fresh articles, week in, week out, to a strict magazine deadline... That act forced me to get quicker, and better.

And when I wrote my VB .NET books, I was forced to learn and improve my knowledge... And therefore find my "programming voice."

In other words...

... By teaching, I learned.

Well, I've realized something.

Over the past four months, I've been writing at least one post a day for my subscribers here at Karl Blog.com.

The goal of most of my posts is to inspire... And help anyone that may be reading to grow in some way. To assist on the journey to self-development.

I set my goal to post daily.

And let me tell you...

... It's REALLY "forced" me to develop MYSELF further!

From the feedback I've received, I know my posts somehow make a small difference.

But they make the MOST difference to me.

They help to remind me to appreciate life to the full -- And that there's no other moment except the present.

And so for that, today, I send YOU my very sincere thanks.

From the heart.

Thank you.

Can You Help Me?

It's the beginning of a New Year!

Welcome to 2007. Your new life begins here.

Now, one of my personal resolutions this year is to continue at Karl Blog.com with even more vigour. I'll be posting daily... and hopefully offer a little inspiration, a little fun, and a little spirituality to my friendly readers.

And I really want to share this happiness with as many people as possible.

Which is why today I'd like to ask...

"Will you link to me?"

Honestly, I've been blessed with the success of this blog so far.

In just three short months... Rebecca Marina and Bradley Thompson have both promoted this site to over 100,000 individuals. I'm now enjoying countless XML subscribers, over 500 e-mail readers, and around 6,000 hits on a good day!

And I really want to continue help individuals recognize the joy that is inherently inside each of us.

So, if you have your own blog or website, then I'd really like to ask you link across to Karl Blog.com.

Here's my link:

And here's my suggested link text:

Karl Moore's Blog - For Daily Inspiration

Of course, it's totally up to you. I only want you to help promote my work if you enjoy it.

This blog will always be free of charge, and I will continue to maintain it for years to come... possibly, forever. And it would be nice if the number of people reading grew alongside my own personal development.

So, could you possibly help me?

If you'd like to exchange blog links, then feel free to contact me direct. You can mail me at karlblogupdates-owner AT googlegroups.com (Obviously, replace AT with the @ symbol.)

Thank you again for reading...

And I can't WAIT to experience the joys of 2007! :)

Motivation Is Like Bathing...

If you've subscribed to this blog for any length of time, you'll have noticed something.

At least every other day, I post a message designed to inspire.

I've done that for perhaps three months now -- and I have absolutely no intention of stopping.

But what's the point?

I mean, once you've discovered the beauty of life -- and been inspired to be the best person you can -- surely that's enough?

Well, not quite.

Zig Ziglar once said:

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily."

That's the reason I post to Karl Blog like I do.

Because everyone needs to be constantly reminded just how magical everything can be.

Not least of all, me.

So thank YOU for giving me the opportunity to keep myself motivated.

And thanks for stopping by and reading today!

Be happy! :)

(Also, a big thanks today to Bradley Thompson and Rebecca Marina, both of whom promoted my blog on Monday to well over 100,000 individuals on their combined mailing lists. Wow!)

"Friends You Haven't Met Yet!"

One of my favourite quotes is...

"Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet."

Interesting, eh?

Let me share something with you.

A short while ago, I installed a little script onto this blog which shows where my visitors are reading from.

The results are fascinating. Here's a recent snapshot, plotted onto a world map:

Visitor locations

Click on the image to view the full version.

The larger red dots indicate 100-999 visitors, whereas the tiny dots represent 1-99.

As you can see, most of my visitors come from the United Kingdom and the big USA cities. There's also a scattering of individuals throughout Europe, Australia and Africa... even the East.

Plus a couple of islands someone in the ocean I really didn't even knew existed!

Fascinating.

And they're all friends I haven't met yet.

So think about it...

Which strangers might you bump into today?

And could they be friends you just haven't met yet?

Maybe they're the one missing link you really need right now?

Consider it. Smile. And open yourself up to new experiences.

Thanks for visiting! :)
